A Promising Start For The Blues!
Whitstable 7 Ash 0
Eight weeks of intense pre-season preparation appeared to have had a positive effect as a ‘new look’ Whitstable squad played its first competitive game against a very useful Ash 1st XV under floodlights on Wednesday at Reeves Way.
A large and enthusiastic crowd watched a well-disciplined Whitstable dominate the first 20 minutes of the match and the team was rewarded with a well - worked try by newcomer, Tom Weston followed by a successful Whitsable conversion.
Ash then responded with a series of attacking plays of their own which kept the home team within their own half but the Blues’ defence was up to the task and did not wilt. When the pack did manage to present some useful possession, Whitstable were able to put pressure back on the visitors and retain them in their own half.
